Safety/Use

Terms:
This blog is intended for educational purposes.
This is not your social blog so please write as if for academic purposes - use formal tone, include context for readers who might not be in our class, and if using slang or less formal language be sure to put it in quotation marks. Keep the msn and chat lingo to a minimum. If you have suggestions / questions for the whole class, use this blog to post them. If you have ideas for how this blog might be more useful to the class, please share with Ms Lees.

Visitors to our blog are welcome to participate in the conversation as long as the guidelines above are followed.  We are a public high school class in Surrey, BC  Canada and would welcome parents, family members, peers, and other visitors comments and feedback.

Safety tips and reminders:
Blogging is a tool we will use to continue to develop our skills within Humanities. At times you may experience technical difficulties. If this happens you are expected to problems solve. How?

1. You are still expected to complete the work - simply choose another tool (eg. pen and paper) so that you have evidence of your learning and your process.

2. Email your blog administrator or seek additional support through Ms Lees' blog. Both Hum classes will use this blog as their home base so chances are high that if you post a question or plea for help, then you will get a response and likewise if you can help with another peer's queries (re - homework or technical problems) please post a response.

Saftey considerations and guidelines for your class / group blogs:

Make sure that your profile is pretty blank - first name and last initial are all you need. At this time, your settings will allow people outside our class to view but not post/comment on your blogs.

Language Expectations - Our class blogs are not intended to be your social blogs - this means you are to write in full sentences / paragraphs and avoid slang or other chat lingo. Since your blogs will likely reach a wider audience beyond our classroom, you will continue to develop your writing skills further with a greater awareness of writing for an "unknown" audience. Eventually you will also invite your parents to view your blogging process. Further expectations will be discussed in class as we progress.
